Fallon Denies Being Involved in Yuga Labs and Ripps Dispute

Jimmy Fallon aims to not testify in the case between Ripps et al. and Yuga Labs Inc.

Jimmy Fallon, an American comedian, television host, actor, writer, and singer, has filed a petition claiming that he has nothing to do with the dispute between Ripps et al. and Yuga Labs Inc.

Yuga Labs, the parent company of Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), recently sued Jeremy Cahen, the “copycat” NFT co-founder, and Ryder Ripps, OKFocus creative director.

According to Yuga Labs, Ripps and Cahen infringed on its trademark by issuing a similar NFT collection. On top of that, Yuga Labs alleges that Ripps and Cahen used false advertising and created unfair competition.

The comedian bought the Bored Ape #599 in November 2021. In January 2022, Fallon announced his new NFT to his audience during an interview with the popular American media personality Paris Hilton. It is believed that Fallon’s BAYC NFT is currently worth around $216,000.

Fallon’s petition claims that he is not involved in the BAYC case even though he had previously announced his BAYC acquisition in a few shows. His lawyers further clarified that he has no connection with Ryder Ripps or Jeremy Cahen. In the petition, Fallon’s lawyers stated:

Indeed, Mr. Fallon’s only alleged connection to Yuga is that he acquired a Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT and mentioned it on two episodes of The Tonight Show.

Therefore, with the petition, his lawyers aim to legally reject the court’s order that instructed him to testify in the case.

It is also important to note that this recent Yuga Lab case is not the only case in which Fallon is involved. He is also expected to testify with Paris Hilton as a co-defendant in a Yuga Labs separate security litigation.
