AC Milan Partners with MonkeyLeague to Launch NFT Initiative

Italian soccer champions AC Milan launches another Web3 initiative.

Associazione Calcio Milan (AC Milan), a professional football club in Italy, has announced its collaboration with MonkeyLeague. 

According to the announcement shared on the club’s blog post, the collaboration will bring exclusive “NFT game assets, wearables, special game tournaments, co-marketing events,” and so on.

MonkeyLeague is a strategy-based soccer game where users can build teams of at least six MonkeyPlayer NFTs and compete against real players.

During the partnership, MonkeyLeague will launch “a new collection of branded AC Milan NFT game assets, including new MonkeyPlayers, skins, and Stadiums.” Based on the announcement, the new batch will be launched on October 6th on MagicEden.

When talking about the collaboration AC Milan Chief Revenue Officer Casper Stylsvig has noted:

We are thrilled to kick off this partnership with MonkeyLeague, a collaboration that allows us to strengthen our positioning in the field of digital innovation. We are particularly proud to be the first football club to partner with MonkeyLeague, bringing this game to our supporters around the world and offering them a new innovative way to engage with their favorite team.

Web3 innovations are not new to AC Milan. In January 2021, the Italian soccer club rolled out an NFT campaign and AC Milan Fan Token (ACM). The token was initially listed on Socios.com. However, a month after its launch, Binance also listed the token. At the time of writing, the ACM token retails for $3,88.

MonkeyLeague Head of Marketing & Partnerships Oren Langberg has noted that this partnership is a “key step” in the company’s plans to connect Web2 and Web3.

Partnering with champions like AC Milan, an absolute iconic Club throughout football’s history, is another testament to what we are building and where we are headed as a game and game studio. It also represents a key step in our plans to bridge the Web2 and Web3 worlds.

It is worth noting that, recently, the club signed a deal with cryptocurrency derivatives exchange Bitmex.
